Rocky Mountain Featherbed was founded in Wyoming (the Cowboy State) in the late 1960's. RMFB created its iconic down vest with a seamless single-piece leather yoke for cowboys and their down vests became infamous for their cold-proof and heat-retaining features like those of feather beds.
In 2005 35 Summers Ltd in Japan acquired the license to manufacture and re-create these unique and iconic garments down to every exact detail, using the rights to distribute the branded name.
The Mountain Parka is one of the most recognisable outerwear silhouettes of all time, with numerous companies manufacturing their own style but with common features seen throughout - a hooded, zip-front, four-pocket jacket with possible heat retention properties. The simple and functional design meant it could be used for a number of activities while its weatherproof properties meant it could survive in most environments.
Built for unpredictable weather, the shell is constructed from a waterproof and breathable three-layer nylon, offering reliable protection without sacrificing comfort. Insulated with European water-repellent down (90% down, 10% feather, 700 fill power), it delivers exceptional warmth and keeps you warm even in damp conditions.
The single piece leather western yoke is a nod to their signature style while there are practical elements a plenty. A built in hood & stand collar are paired with slanted breast pockets and two large flap pockets provide ample storage space. There are also side entry hand warmer pockets as well as a rear map pocket while fit can be altered with the waist, hem drawstring adjusters & adjustable cuffs. Snap buttons and a two way YKK zip complete the look.
