The U.S.N. Cotton Cardigan is modelled on early examples issued to the US Navy in 1930's & 40's, with similar detailing also found on early military undershirts that also used fleece backed cotton for added warmth & comfort.
Cut in Japan from a 10 oz loopwheel cotton, the cardigan features a brushed loopback French terry, making it warmer & softer than unbrushed versions. A simple button front has been paired with ribbed cuffs and waistband while a USN woven label completes the look.
The factory that produces McCoy's loop wheel fabric is unique in that it can only produce a limited amount of fabric a day. This, combined with the nature of the hanging knitting machines used and combination of less yarns results in the softest, lowest tension fabric, ideal for sweatshirts.
